SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 11 (UPI) -- Cast members from 20 seasons of the ground-breaking U.S. reality television show "The Real World" are to gather for "The Real World Awards Bash."

The event is slated to take place March 29 in Los Angeles.

MTV said the categories and nominees will be revealed on "TRL" Monday through Thursday, and winners will be chosen by fans who cast votes online.

The network promised in a statement that "The Real World Awards Bash: Roast 'Em and Toast 'Em" will combine "elements from a roast event for a blow-out festivity of high jinks, hilarity and high-drama."

The awards bash also is intended to focus on how "The Real World" influenced pop culture and created a trend in reality programming.

Past seasons of "The Real World," the longest-running reality series in history, have taken place in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, Miami, Boston, Seattle, Hawaii, New Orleans, Chicago, Las Vegas, Paris, San Diego, Philadelphia, Austin, Key West, Denver and Sydney, MTV said.

The first season debuted in 1992 and was set in New York City.

Each season, seven young strangers move in together in a new location, while cameras continuously follow them.
