NEW YORK, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- Laura Linney, Ben Daniels and Mamie Gummer have signed on to star in a new Broadway production of Christopher Hampton's "Les Liaisons Dangereuses."

To be directed by Rufus Norris, the Roundabout Theatre Company's limited-engagement staging of the play is slated to begin previews April 11, ahead of a planned May 1 opening night, said a statement released by representatives for the show.

Linney will play La Marquise de Merteuil, while Daniels will portray Le Vicomte de Valmont in this dark comedy about the battle of the sexes amongst pre-Revolutionary French aristocracy, show notes said.

Also joining the company are Gummer as Cecile Volanges, Kristine Nielsen as Madame De Volanges, Benjamin Walker as Danceny, Rosie Benton as Emile and Derek Cecil as Azolan.

Gummer, who was seen recently in the big-screen period drama, "Evening," is actress Meryl Streep's daughter.
