'Brady Bunch' star pens memoirs

NEW YORK, Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Former U.S. teen idol Maureen McCormick reveals in her forthcoming autobiography that she has suffered from depression, drug addiction and eating disorders.
The news may come as a surprise to those who grew up watching McCormick play golden girl Marcia on the classic 1970s sit-com, “The Brady Bunch.”
“Here’s the Story” is expected to be published in 2008 by HarperEntertainment, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.
"I’ve learned that overcoming my demons and weathering the tumultuous storms of my life is a process,” McCormick said in a statement.
"I have arrived, for the moment at least, in a solid and secure place, which is allowing me to visit my past without fear,” she added. “Writing this book has been such a cathartic experience. I hope it will not only shed light on who I am and how I got here, but more importantly, remind the readers that there truly is a light at the end of any tunnel."
The publishers said the book reveals how “The Brady Bunch” changed McCormick's life; how she was put in dangerous situations and how she has struggled with weight issues, nearly fatal drug addictions and depression throughout her life.
