NEW YORK, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Two bullet wounds cause a New York woman pain, but she says she's also hurt that a female rapper she considered a friend denied shooting her.

Makeda Barnes-Joseph allegedly was shot last month by rapper Remy Ma, who accused her former friend of stealing $3,000 from her purse. Remy Ma, whose real name is Remy Smith has denied the allegation.

Barnes-Joseph, who will undergo more surgery in October, was released from the hospital earlier in August and works with a physical therapist every other day, The New York Daily News reported Monday.

"I'm basically confined to the bed now. It's really hard. It hurts," she told the newspaper. "I sit here and I try to think every day, 'Why is she doing that? How can she deny that?'"

Barnes-Joseph, 23, also had choice words for Rapper Foxy Brown, who was sent to jail after she was charged with hitting a neighbor with a BlackBerry.

"They feel that they can do whatever they want and get away with it," she said. "They think that because they're rappers that they need to make a name for themselves."
