ATHENS, Texas, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- Singer-actress Willa Ford married hockey player Mike Modano during a weekend ceremony at a private ranch in Texas.

Ford, 26, walked down the aisle at the ranch in Athens, Texas, in a wedding dress of her design, E! News reported Monday.

The newlyweds dated on and off for more than four years before the 37-year-old Modano asked her to marry him last Thanksgiving.

Ford competed in "Dancing with the Stars" and portrayed the late Anna Nicole Smith in a made-for-TV movie that was shot earlier this year. She also starred in the independent thriller "Impulse," which wrapped recently.

Modano, a center for the Dallas Stars, was the first overall pick in the 1988 entry draft. He is the all-time goal scoring leader amongst U.S.-born players.

The couple bought a Dallas-area home earlier this year.
