Hugh Grant settles dispute with newspaper

Published: April 28, 2007 at 5:03 PM
LONDON, April 28 (UPI) -- Actor Hugh Grant has settled a libel dispute with a British publisher over coverage of his love life.

Grant accepted unspecified damages from Associated Newspapers and donated them to a cancer charity, The Independent said Saturday.

The London newspaper said the dispute stemmed from articles in the London Daily Mail regarding Grant's split from girlfriend and Unicef ambassador Jemima Khan. Grant said the stories were "entirely fictional" and came from sources that weren't as close to the situation as they were represented to be.

The beef with Associated Newspapers was not be confused with this week's clash between Grant and a photographer during which Grant pitched a container of baked beans at the paparazzi.
