LILONGWE, Malawi, April 23 (UPI) -- Pop diva Madonna completed her six-day trip to Malawi, leaving the African country with her daughter Lourdes and year-old son David, whom she's adopting.

Madonna visited the country of her son's birth to check on several projects begun by her Raising Malawi charity, Madonna's representative Liz Rosenberg told People magazine.

Rosenberg said she did not know whether David met with his biological father during the trip and on Sunday formally denied persistent rumors that Madonna was in the country to adopt a second child.

Madonna's husband, British director Guy Ritchie, didn't make the trip, instead remaining in London with son their, Rocco.

Meanwhile, the first formal progress check required for David's adoption is scheduled to take place next month in the couple's London home. Madonna and Ritchie were granted 18-month interim custody of the boy last fall, during which time Malawi officials will check on the progress of the boy before signing off on the adoption.
