LONDON, April 11 (UPI) -- The drama "Life On Mars," snubbed by the British television academy last year, earned three BAFTA television nominations, including best drama.

Comic Victoria Wood earned a record 12th British Academy of Film and Television Arts television nomination for her role in the drama "Housewife, 49," the Times of London reported Wednesday.

Helen Mirren, who earned kudos on both sides of the Atlantic for her portrayal in "The Queen," was not nominated for her role in "Prime Suspect," although the show was nominated in the drama serial category.

Jim Broadbent and Andy Serkis received best actor nods for their roles in the "Longford," which led all shows nominated with four.

"Extras" stars Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant earned nominations in the best comedy performance.

The 2006 edition of " Celebrity Big Brother," starring George Galloway, will compete in the public best program vote against "Planet Earth" and "Life On Mars."

The BAFTA Television Awards ceremony will be May 20 at the London Palladium on 20 May.
