NEW YORK, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Australian Keith Urban was crowned the Country Music Association's entertainer of the year and male vocalist of the year in New York.

Urban beat Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith and Brad Paisley for the coveted award Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Lee Ann Womack won three of the six awards she was nominated for, but Brad Paisley, who also had six nods, was shut out. Gretchen Wilson beat favorite Womack as well as Martina McBride, Sara Evans and Alison Krauss for female vocalist of the year.

Dierks Bentley took the Horizon Award, Dobro player Jerry Douglas was named musician of the year and Toby Keith's "As Good As I Once Was" won video of the year.

Rascal Flatts took the CMA for group of the year and the hosts of the evening's festivities, Brooks & Dunn, were named vocal duo of the year.

Lee Ann Womack's "I May Hate Myself in the Morning" was the single of the year and her album "There's More Where That Came From" was the CMA album of the year. Womack also won the musical event of the year award for her duet with George Strait, "Good News, Bad News."

Song of the year honors went to Bill Anderson and Jon Randall's "Whiskey Lullaby" performed by Paisley and Alison Krauss.

Country superstar Vince Gill inducted Alabama, Glen Campbell and DeFord Bailey into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
