WASHINGTON, May 19 (UPI) -- A bankrupt security company paid to guard federal buildings diverted millions to its owner, court filings alleged Monday.

E-mails describe repeated incidents of USProtect checks worth hundreds of thousands directed to Lisa Hudec, who also owned Tu-Co-Peat Inc., a Florida landscaping company, The Washington Times reported.

"I need a check for Lisa ASAP. Gross up 300K," one e-mail read.

The checks went out as hundreds of security officers' paychecks bounced in months prior to USProtect filing for bankruptcy in March.

Hudec was overpaid $5.8 million and borrowed an additional $4.4 million from USProtect that she has not repaid, the report said.

USProtect had contracts to guard federal courthouses, Social Security Administration buildings and other federal sites nationwide.

In filing papers in a Maryland courthouse recently, USProtect trustee Janet Nesse also asked for a court-ordered receiver to oversee Hudec's landscaping business, the report said.
