Oil prices at more than $126 a barrel

NEW YORK, May 9 (UPI) -- Crude oil prices climbed to the end of trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday, reaching a record $126.06 per barrel.

Crude climbed 58 cents on the day as the dollar weakened against the euro and yen, prompting speculative buying.

On the exchange Friday, heating oil prices rose 0.0082 cents to $3.6442 per gallon. The price of reformulated gasoline blendstock fell 0.0042 cents in late trading to $3.1970 per gallon. Natural gas prices rose 0.158 cents on the day to $11.537 per million British thermal units.

The price at the pump climbed to a national average record $3.671 for a gallon of unleaded, up from Thursday's price of $3.654 a gallon, AAA reported.
