RESTON, Va., Dec. 18 (UPI) -- Sprint Nextel Corp. said it selected as its president Dan Hesse, who once headed Embarq Corp., a U.S. telephone company spun off from Sprint last year.
Hesse replaces Sprint Nextel President and Chief Executive Officer Gary Forsee, who stepped down in October amid pressure from the company's board and its investors, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.
Hesse, a telecommunications industry veteran known to Sprint's board, has strong wireless experience. He spent more than two decades at AT&T and was president and CEO of its wireless unit.
