Cracker Barrel recalls collapsing stools

LEBANON, Tenn., May 9 (UPI) -- Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc., a U.S. restaurant and retail-store chain, Wednesday recalled 2,600 stools that could collapse during use.

The recall of Rooster Kitchen Stools came a day after the chain of 557 restaurants in 41 states pulled hamburgers from 313 of its restaurants after a Myrtle Beach, S.C., customer reported cutting her mouth on a piece of a razor blade embedded in a patty.

The Lebanon, Tenn., chain receives frozen and pre-formed hamburger patties from Cargill Meat Solutions of Wichita, Kan., which said it was investigating the incident.

Cracker Barrel received two reports of the stools collapsing, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday. In one incident, a 10-year-old boy sustained bruises when a stool collapsed and he fell.

The stool in question is about 2 feet tall and 1 foot in diameter. It has light brown wood and a rooster painted on the seat.

"Made in China" and Item No. 260161 are printed on a sticker under the seat.

Cracker Barrel sold the stool in February and March for about $30.

The commission recommends consumers stop using the stools immediately and return them to any Cracker Barrel for a full refund. For additional information, contact Cracker Barrel at 800-333-9566 or visit the firm's Web site at www.crackerbarrel.com.
