NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Relatives say a New York mob associate wants his teenage son buried near the federal prison in West Virginia where he is serving a life sentence.
Officials at Gilmer Priso in Glenville, W. Va., refused to allow Norman Dupont to attend the wake or funeral for his son, Anthony, the New York Post reported.
"His father wants to be close to his child," said Anthony's aunt, Nancy Dupont. "Now he will never see his son again."
Norman Dupont would not be able to visit his son's grave.
Anthony Dupont and three friends were in a small boat on a lake in Sullivan County in upstate New York during the weekend when someone stood up, capsizing the boat. Only one of the four managed to swim to shore.
Norman Dupont was a caretaker at the Ravenite Social Club in Little Italy, where FBI surveillance tapes showed him fetching coffee for John Gotti and doing other chores. He was convicted and sentenced to life plus 25 years for shooting a car service dispatcher in 1990 because the owner of the business owed him money.
