HAWTHORNE, Calif., May 13 (UPI) -- ITT Corp. has awarded a follow-on contract to OSI Systems (NASDAQ:OSIS) Inc. for specialized electronics in support of a U.S. Defense Department contract.

OSI Systems says its optoelectronics and manufacturing division will perform work on the approximately $4.7 million ITT award. Under the award, OSI Systems will manufacture and deliver electronic sub-assemblies that ITT deploys in its Crew 2.1 vehicle-mounted electronic jammer systems.

ITT is under contract to produce the Crew 2.1 systems for the U.S. Defense Department for use on the mine-resistant ambush-protected armored vehicle program.

"We are pleased to continue our relationship with this critical U.S. government initiative," Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "We look forward to working with and supporting ITT with their electronic sub-assembly needs in the future phases of this important program."

OSI Systems is a developer of specialized electronics technologies deployed in various markets including homeland security, defense and aerospace.
