FARMINGDALE, N.Y., May 9 (UPI) --
Telephonics says it has successfully demonstrated its NetCom-VTM technology in a bid for the U.S. Army's vehicle intercommunications system-extended program.
New York-based Telephonics was invited to demonstrate its NetCom-VTM networked intercommunications system to both Army and Marine Corps evaluators as officials work to select a contractor for the VIS-X program. The demonstration took place during the recent Army expedited modernization initiative procedure exercise in Virginia.
Telephonics officials say their NetCom-VTM was tested for interoperability on a rotary wing, tactical wheeled vehicle and watercraft platforms and was successfully installed on-board the command and control test bed on a UH-1 helicopter among other key requirements.
"The demonstrated NetCom-V technologies are ready for fielding and show that integrated wired and wireless intercommunications can fill existing, documented Army communications capability gaps," Steve Esposito, Telephonics communication systems division vice president for business development, said in a statement.
Officials say a successful demonstration could result in a contract with the Army for as much as $3 billion for the Army's VIS-X program.© 2008 United Press International. All Rights Reserved.
