IDO says it has contracted UNI Sophisticated Electronic Assembling Ltd. to make the company's MagShoe technology commercially available. Officials say the MagShoe is capable of detecting potential threats concealed in shoes without the need for the now standard practice of taking shoes off at security checkpoints to be sent through a machine.
IDO contracted UNI after testing the reliability of high-volume production of the MagShoe. Company officials have been working to launch a large-scale commercial version of the MagShoe as a result of the tremendous market demand at security checkpoints around the world.
"The MagShoe goes where traditional metal detectors can't, instantly and accurately detecting metal items concealed in footwear without requiring the removal of shoes," Michael Goldberg, IDO Security president and director, said in a statement.
"Accordingly, there has been tremendous demand from businesses of all types, all over the world, that require a more complete, reliable approach to security and loss prevention. Our partnership with UNI allows us to fulfill that demand quickly and seamlessly, regardless of volume or need."
