WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., May 7 (UPI) -- The U.S. Special Operations Technology Applications Program Office says it has contracted ITT Corp. to support the program's Army helicopters.

ITT, a high-technology engineering and manufacturing company in the defense and security market, says it has been contracted to supply the Army with 25 of its AN/ALQ-211(V)6 integrated situational awareness and self-protection systems. Officials say the $57 million deal is part of a larger $312 million contract awarded recently supporting the Special Operations Army helicopters.

"This represents another significant program and technical success for the ALQ-211 family of systems," Chris Bernhardt, ITT electronic systems business president, said in a statement.

"Variants of these systems are protecting aircrews around the world, on both U.S. and allied aircraft. We're honored and privileged to provide these systems to Special Operations Forces who fly some of the most dangerous missions."
