The multiyear, $1.3 billion follow-on deal is from the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command. Under the deal, Navistar Defense will provide the Afghanistan National Police, Afghan National Army and the Iraqi Ministry of Defense with medium tactical vehicles.
Officials say the medium tactical vehicles will include general troop transporters, petroleum, oil and lubricant trucks and water tankers among other truck variants. The contract also includes spare parts.
"This contract award reflects Navistar's strong performance in providing quality vehicles and reliable service to the military," Archie Massicotte, Navistar Defense president, said in a statement.
"We have stepped up to the challenge to become a leader. We continue to deliver on our commitment to provide the U.S. military and allies with a comprehensive value solution that includes military vehicles, and worldwide parts and field service support."
