California-based OSI Systems says its security division, Rapiscan Systems, was awarded the $4.4 million TSA contract. Under the deal, Rapiscan Systems will provide the TSA its 620DV X-ray systems as part of the Advanced Technology Passenger Carry-On Bag Screening Systems program at airports in the United States.
"We are committed to supporting the TSA's efforts to deploy advanced technology systems at hundreds of airport checkpoints by year's end," Rapiscan Systems President Ajay Mehra said in a statement. "Under the terms of the program we will provide production, field service and program management support to the U.S. government."
Officials say the contract includes options that if exercised could be worth up to $97 million.
