HONG KONG, May 16 (UPI) -- China's air force has substantially reinforced its air defense posture in Jiangxi province in the past year. There are indications that China has completed its second-line air defense operational deployment against Taiwan centered on Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. This has greatly expanded the depth of China's air defense coverage. -

GDIT wins USAF training contract

FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- General Dynamics Information Technology has won a new contract to boost the U.S. Air Force simulations program.
"General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics has been awarded a contract to support the U.S. Air Force Simulations, Training and Experimentation Program. The contract has a potential value of $146 million over five years if all options are exercised," the company said in a statement.
General Dynamics said it would "provide staffing support to Air Force agencies to conduct operational strategy concept development, operational/regional politico-military analysis and capabilities assessments, as well as war and mobilization planning. The company will support planning and conduct of the Air Force Title 10 mid-term war game, 'Unified Engagement.'
"General Dynamics has provided similar services to the Air Force since October 2001. The work will be performed primarily in Arlington and Hampton Roads, Va.," it said.
“War games allow the Department of Defense to mitigate possible operational or strategic surprise through comprehensive research, analysis and planning,” said Ken Hess, vice president and general manager of Air Force Systems for General Dynamics Information Technology.
“General Dynamics will continue to provide the streamlined, responsive support and guidance that enables the Air Force to successfully achieve its critical mission,” he said.
General Dynamics said that in May 2007, its General Dynamics-Air Force team "received the 2007 Department of Defense Modeling and Simulation Common and Cross-Cutting Award at the Defense Modeling and Simulation Conference."
"As a trusted systems integrator for more than 50 years, General Dynamics Information Technology provides information technology -- IT -- systems engineering and professional services to customers in the defense, intelligence, homeland security, federal civil, international and commercial sectors," the company said.
"With 16,000 professionals worldwide, the company manages large-scale, mission-critical IT programs delivering IT services and enterprise solutions," it said.
