Partnership for homeland security clients

NEW YORK, Oct. 5 (UPI) -- New York-based Convergent Security Group announced it has partnered with Olive, Edwards & Cooper to better address clients in the homeland security industry.

Washington-based Olive, Edwards & Cooper is a government-relations, law and public-affairs firm specializing in homeland security and transportation. Convergent Security Group is the homeland security investment banking practice of Legend Merchant Group.

“The homeland security industry that has evolved in recent years provides an unprecedented opportunity for smaller companies to compete for business and align themselves with the established larger contractors in the federal marketplace,” David Olive, a senior partner at Olive, Edwards & Cooper who will join Convergent’s advisory board, said in a statement.

“Legend Merchant’s Convergent Security Group provides unique insight and expertise in helping to grow and finance emerging companies in the sector. We look forward to helping their portfolio companies understand the needs of the federal marketplace.”

Olive previously served as chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Asa Hutchinson, who later went on to serve in the initial formation of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as the first undersecretary for border and transportation security.

“We have worked with David Olive since our practice started, and he has been instrumental in helping our portfolio security companies access channels within the federal marketplace and in making strategic introductions to leading prime contractors and systems integrators,” said Scott L. Greiper, head of the Convergent Security Group. “This agreement formalizes our relationship and should bring tangible benefits to our clients.”
