KIEV, Ukraine, May 14 (UPI) -- Ukraine has expressed interest in Lithuania's nuclear projects.

Officials from Ukraine said they would be willing to work on the closing of Lithuania's Ignalina nuclear plant and help build a new nuclear plant in its place, RosBusinessConsulting reported.

Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko expressed his interest during a recent meeting with Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas.

Lithuania recently appealed for help as it shuts down the Ignalina plant; it said it needs new energy supplies to meet the nation's demand.
