Sakhalin Energy to boost oil production
Sakhalin Energy, the operator of the Sakhalin-2 project, produced 1.68 million tons of oil in the 2007 production season, 6.3 percent more than in 2006, the company said in a press release.
The ninth production season ran from July 8 to Nov. 25. Oil is produced from the Molikpaq platform, part of the Vityaz complex. The decision to end the season on Nov. 25 was made after the SALM buoy was damaged in a storm.
In the 2007 production season, 19 cargoes of Vityaz crude were delivered to Japan, Korea and United States.
Since production began in 1999, Sakhalin-2 has produced about 13.2 million tons of oil.
