AMMAN, Jordan, May 6 (UPI) -- More than 31 nations visited Jordan for the launch of Project Rebuild Iraq 2008 featuring exhibitions by nearly 500 Arab and international companies.

The fair, organized by the international business-to-business trade fair planner IFP Group, featured pavilions by nations from France to India and Korea to the Netherlands, The Jordan Times said Tuesday.

"The show received support from government and private sector institutions alike, headed by the Jordanian government, the Iraqi Business Council, the Anbar Business Group, the Basra Development Board and the Import Export Association in Kurdistan," IFP Group chairman Albert Aoun said.

Project Rebuild Iraq featured exhibits on the telecommunication and security information sectors as well as electricity and general goods.

Jordanian Minister of Public Sector Reform Maher Madadha attended the opening ceremony with ambassadors, business leaders and organizers from participating countries.

Aoun said the exhibit signaled the economic potential of the emerging Iraq.

"Vast opportunities for new agency and distribution agreements are there to grab," he said.
