AMMAN, Jordan, March 20 (UPI) -- The Iraqi deputy foreign minister chaired in Jordan an Iraqi delegation on displaced people, praising donor countries and calling for further aid.

Mohammed Hajj Hmoud headed the second meeting of a committee of displaced Iraqis in Amman. He praised "the friendly governments of neighboring countries" for their work to offer assistance to displaced Iraqis being hosted in their countries, the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Hmoud hailed the decision to offer healthcare and education to displaced Iraqis and offered a review of the work of the Iraqi government in extending further aid.

Iraq is making great efforts toward a comprehensive national reconciliation measure aimed at improving conditions in Iraq, Hmoud said. The Iraqi central government recently set aside $25 million in aid for countries hosting displaced Iraqis and $40 million to go directly to the refugees.

Hmoud concluded his meeting with a statement calling for donor countries in the international community to continue their efforts to assist displaced Iraqis.
