BERLIN, June 19 (UPI) -- Two youth groups clashed Sunday in Berlin, leaving two Germans and a 15-year-old Ethiopian boy heavily injured in what could be yet another neo-Nazi crime.
Police arrested four suspects after a brawl in Berlin's southeast Schoenefeld district. Officials said they are looking into whether the incident was racially motivated, as one of the arrested is a well-known neo-Nazi.
According to police, four Germans met six men from eastern Berlin in the early Sunday morning hours and started a fight.
The suspected attackers were more heavily injured, however a 20-year-old male received a broken skull and two others heavy concussions.
The police said the brawl may have well been just a clash between two youth groups and not racially motivated.
Berlin authorities have stepped up patrols in Berlin and the surrounding areas after an upsurge in apparent race-related attacks in recent weeks led to fears that neo-Nazis could undermine the country's goodwill campaign for the FIFA Soccer World Cup, which Germany currently hosts in 12 cities.
