LAGOS, Nigeria, June 9 (UPI) -- A strike by Nigerian telecom workers is reportedly causing disruptions of electronic banking transactions in the African nation.
Workers at Nigerian External Telecommunication (NITEL) walked off the job this week in a dispute over back wages, causing difficulties in not only telephone service but e-banking as well.

The Financial Standard reported that the disruptions affected Ecobank Nigeria and United Bank of Africa as well as major customers such as Nigerian National Petroleum and Shell.
There were also reports of wireless networks experiencing difficulty in connecting calls, the newspaper said.
