Spain's Telefonica boosts broadband

MADRID, June 8 (UPI) -- Telefonica de Espana is upgrading the architecture of its broadband network to enable delivery of improved business and residential services.

Alcatel will provide networking solutions that will allow the Spanish telecom provider to offer private network services for corporate customers, and services such as Internet Protocol Television and High-Definition Television.

Broadband access will be based on Alcatel's 7302 Intelligent Services Access Manager while the aggregation network for the corporate market will be enabled by the French company's 7450 Ethernet Service Switch.
