MURRAY HILL, N.J., June 8 (UPI) -- Lucent Technologies is adding a solution that allows parents to control their children's cell-phone activities.
The technology comes from ACE COMM Corp., which provides a configurable user profile that parents can tailor to their children's restrictions, including limiting the minutes used and numbers of downloads, and blocking incoming calls from specified phone numbers.
Lucent Vice President J.J. Lhospital said the new feature allows parents to be able to get a hold of their kids while not having to worry about inappropriate calls being made or bills being run up by overages or multiple media downloads.
"This new capability ... will enable service providers to give parents a little more control over their kids' use of the phone," Lhospital said.
The service is based on a Web-style screen that parents can use to set the phone's parameters and monitor billing information.
