Software firm is against animal testing

TEL AVIV, Israel, May 31 (UPI) -- Enterprise software firm Mercury Interactive's Israel branch came out against animal testing Wednesday, denying it donated money to build a testing lab.

"Mercury did not make any donation to any antiquated, cruel method, including in any respect to experiments on animals," the hi-tech company stated in a letter sent by its lawyers to the anti-animal-testing organization Sogrot, according to a report in the Israeli business magazine TheMarker.

The company sent the letter to Sogrot after members of the activist group handed out brochures to Mercury employees slamming an alleged connection between the company and Tel Aviv-Jaffa College, where the laboratory is supposed to be built, according to the report.

"Kudos to Mercury for taking a stand on such an important matter," responded Yosefa Mikayton of Sogrot via the report.
