GERMANTOWN, Md., May 31 (UPI) -- Hughes Network Systems recently completed delivery of 12,000 broadband satellite terminals to lottery-equipment provider GTECH Corp.
The $17 million contract is the latest in a long-running relationship between Hughes and GTECH, one of the world's leading purveyors of equipment used to handle lottery and gaming transaction solutions.
Hughes said the shipments bring the number of terminals it has provided to more than 50,000. At the same time, Hughes has added another two hubs, for a total of eight hubs installed.
"Their satellite broadband solution has consistently provided our customers with the reliability, security and speed they require for critical lottery transactions," GTECH Vice President Matthew Whalen said in a news release Tuesday.
