Air Broadband set to debut Malaysia WiMax

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, May 24 (UPI) -- Air Broadband expects to launch its Malaysia WiMax service with three to six months, the head of the Silicon Valley firm said Wednesday.

Air Broadband President Kenneth Kang told a seminar in Malaysia that the wireless broadband service would be launched in Cyberjaya and later expanded to other major cities and eventually the entire country.

WiMax will bring 40 megabits-per-second broadband service with a range of about 10 miles.

The Straits Times said Deputy Minister of Energy, Water and Communications Datuk Shaziman Abu Mansor said new technologies such as WiMax were key to expanding broadband service in Malaysia.
