ISTANBUL, Turkey, May 23 (UPI) -- Turkish Telecom has awarded a contract to NEC Australia for 221,000 new DSL broadband lines.
The deal continues a relationship between the two companies and will bring the total number of lines NEC has in Turkey to 541,000. Terms were not announced.

The new lines will supply Turk Telecom's growing broadband subscriber base and will accommodate advanced Internet services.
NEC said Tuesday it had recently conducted a trial of Internet Protocol Television with Turkish Telecom.
NEC Managing Director Toshiharu Iwasa said in a news release that the company expected to strengthen its presence in Turkey further in the coming years and expand into new European and Chinese markets.
