Russian telecom firm buys ECtel security

ROSH HA'AYIN, Israel, May 23 (UPI) -- A Russian long-distance telecom operator has placed a follow-on order for ECtel fraud detection and prevention technology, ECtel announced Tuesday.

ECtel did not announce the name of the Russian company.

The technology, called "FraudView," is a package of fraud "detection and prevention technologies," the company said.

It "enables operators to effectively protect their business from revenue leakage and fraud as they evolve to next generation IP and 3G networks and services," according to a company statement.

The order is worth $1.1 million, according to the company.

"The Commonwealth of Independent States is an important market for us. We have a significant footprint in this advanced and fast-growing market, and are optimistic about future business for our Integrated Revenue Management solutions," ECtel President and Chief Executive Officer Eitan Naor said via the statement.

The security company, founded in 1990, operates in more than 50 countries, ECtel said.
