Taiwan bank deploys Cisco data storage

TAIPEI, Taiwan, May 19 (UPI) -- Taiwan Cooperative Bank has deployed a new network data storage system from Cisco and IBM that remains operational around the clock.

The Fiber Channel storage system achieves the bank's goal of an "always-on" system that can be easily upgraded and provide back-up and disaster-recovery capabilities. It consists of IBM disk storage along with Cisco fiber-connection and MDS 9509 switches.

"Taiwan Cooperative Bank has been undergoing enormous expansion as a result of its privatization and Taiwan's economic growth," Wu said in a news release. "The Cisco-IBM solution ... will enable Taiwan Cooperative Bank to sharpen its edge in the increasingly competitive local financial services sector."
