Nokia wins GSM deal from Sichuan Unicom

ESPOO, Finland, May 19 (UPI) -- Nokia won a contract to expand the GSM network of China's Sichuan Unicom.

The Finnish group will be providing GSM networks to four cities in Sichuan province.

"We are extremely delighted with our progress in the GSM business and deepening cooperation with mobile operators in China," said Yuan Wei, vice president of the China area networks at Nokia. "The mobile market and the number of subscribers in China are growing fast and steadily. With our global experience and strong end-to-end localization commitment, we support mobile operators in bringing state-of-the-art mobile services to their customers."
