NEW DELHI, May 1 (UPI) -- India telecom major BSNL said Monday that new rules for monthly long-distance traffic reporting were impossible to meet.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. said it was not possible to generate the kinds of required reports and submit them to the government every month.

The Hindu said Monday that the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India was considering BSNL's request to have the timeframe adjusted.

The agency called for the monthly submissions of its long-distance minutes in order to monitor the correlation between outgoing and incoming minutes as part of a crackdown on the gray market in international calls.
