Telecom Italia launches TV-capable phones

ROME, April 28 (UPI) -- Telecom Italia will be offering wireless phones capable of receiving mobile television starting in June.

Samsung will provide the phones that will be used for the Mobile TV offering, which will be based on DVB-H and provide a sharp picture similar to digital television.

The service will include live telecasts of major networks as well as first-division soccer matches. Telecom Italia said it had non-exclusive agreements with Telecom Italia Media and Mediaset.
