Jordan Telecom ups Internet security

AMMAN, Jordan, April 26 (UPI) -- Jordan Telecom is updating the security of its Internet service with new firewalls and other technology developed by Juniper.

The Silicon Valley company said Wednesday the Jordanian telco had deployed its network gateway firewall and intrusion detection solutions as protection against the usual worms and spyware, and against emerging threats as well.

Juniper's Musab Mheidat said the upgrades would protect business and technological networks throughout Jordan.

Jordan Telecom is the kingdom's primary telco and was privatized in 2000. The government owns a 41-percent stake in the company while 40 percent is in the hands of holding company JITCO.
