Helio provides game-sharing via cell phone

LOS ANGELES, April 26 (UPI) -- Helio LLC has launched a library of video games for 3G cell phones that can be shared among members.

The service links Helio members via their phones and allows them to buy and share games with one another or "rent" them on a low-cost trial basis. Users can also access previews of new games that come on the market.

Helio's game service is also designed to take advantage of the technical capabilities of robust new third-generation wireless phones.

"We have created a unique gaming experience that shows off the high resolution screens and advanced capabilities of our devices, while tapping the potential of the 3G network," said Chief Executive Officer Sky Dayton. "We built the service from the ground up to not only let our members discover and play great games, but share them with each other through gifting and begging, both firsts in the United States."

The system runs on the high-end multimedia launch devices Kickflip and Hero, which connects Helio members, and accesses a library that includes offerings from major game producers in eight genres, including sports, casino, role-playing and puzzles.
