LONDON, April 25 (UPI) -- Do you prefer a male or female voice?
Users of BT's text-messaging system will be able to make a choice from May 1, as they will be able to choose which voice they would like to have their messages read out to them. Tom Baker, who played Dr. Who in the television series by that name, has been the voice behind the message-reading since January.
"Tom Baker has been a huge success and a great way to introduce a new audience to BT Text. As the technology develops we want to give people the option to have their texts delivered to landlines in a gender that is the same as their own -- or one they think will be more effective depending on the message they're sending," Wendy McMillan, general manager of the consumer division, said in a news release.
