LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Trader Joe's markets are recalling cashews in stores across 30 states over fears of salmonella, the company said in a statement.
A supplier alerted the company that a specific lot sold as Trader Joe's Raw Cashew Pieces might be contaminated with salmonella. The grocery store chain issued a statement Monday saying it has removed the product from store shelves.
The product has a specific sell by date -- "BEST BEFORE 07.17.2016TF4" -- printed on the package and its barcode is 00505154.
Although no illnesses have been reported so far, the company has urged people who might have bought the product to not eat it and customers can return it at Trader Joe's for a refund.
"The product was distributed only to Trader Joe's stores in Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington, D.C., and Wisconsin."
