The recall was initiated because of company routine testing results, and not because of illness.

WASHINGTON, May 5 (UPI) -- Sixdog Investments voluntarily recalled some cases of their certified organic eggs due to potential salmonella, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The eggs packed in dozen and half-dozen cartons were distributed in Colorado; but some may have been shipped to Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico and Utah via retail outlets.

The recalled eggs have a packing date of 93, 94, 97, or 98; an expiration date of 05-18-14, 05-19-14, 05-22-14, or 05-23-14; and a location code of 1 or 3 on a white sticker on the end of each carton.

"We are confident that any and all products sent out with any other packing codes or expiration dates are fully safe for consumption," the company said. "No illnesses have been reported to date."

Routine testing, initiated by the firm, found eggs from certain barns could potentially contain the bacteria. The company said it immediately ceased production in those areas, and took action to rectify the situation.

Consumers who purchased the eggs can return them to the store they were purchased for a full refund. Those with questions may contact the company at 1-970-286-0080 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
