Antidepressant Effexor recalled by Pfizer

NEW YORK, March 9 (UPI) -- Pharmaceuticals manufacturer Pfizer Inc. said Sunday certain lots of the antidepressant Effexor will be recalled after another medication was found in a bottle.

Thirty-count and 90-count bottles of Effexor XR 150 milligram extended-release capsules and 90-count bottles of Greenstone-branded Venlafaxine HC1 150 mg extended-released capsules are being recalled because a pharmacist reported a bottle also contained s capsule of Tikosyn, an anti-arrhythmic heart drug, Pfizer said.

The recall affects Pfizer lot Nos. V130142 and V130140, and Greenstone lot No. V130014. Patients with questions on returning the products should contact Stericycle Inc. at 1-888-345-0481.
