ALBANY, N.Y., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Influenza is prevalent in New York and a state regulation requires unvaccinated staff at regulated healthcare facilities staff to wear a mask, officials say.
Dr. Nirav R. Shah, commissioner of the New York state Department of Health, said the regulation is intended to protect patients from getting the flu from healthcare workers.
