In an interview with More magazine, Brzezinski says she reveals in her book that since she was a young girl, food has been her best friend and her fiercest enemy.
Her father, political scientist Zbigniew Brzezinski, was national security adviser during the administration of former President Jimmy Carter -- and with affairs of state, or affairs of the world, swirling around her home, Mika Brzezinski said she believed her compulsion to overeat and over exercise were "too trivial to mention" to her family.
She said she had developed a habit, binging on food and then going on punishing runs, the Huffington Post reported.
"Food was the thing I could count on," Brzezinski explained. "Food always loved me back."
The book, "Obsessed: America's Food Addiction -- and My Own," is due out in May.
