SAN DIEGO, March 9 (UPI) -- Three major U.S. tuna brands have expanded a voluntary nationwide recall after detecting potentially faulty seals, exposing the fish to contamination.

No illness has been reported as a result of the compromised tuna.

Affected brands include Bumble Bee, based in San Diego, along with Chicken of the Sea and Brunswick with "best by" dates between Jan. 14 and 18, 2016, WNBC-TV, New York, said Saturday.

Consumers who purchased the items can return them to the store for a refund or exchange, the companies said.
