BATTLE CREEK, Mich., Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Kellogg Co. said consumers should check cupboards for boxes of Special K Red Berries cereal, which is being recalled due to potential broken glass.

"Please check any packages you have in your home. If your package matches the information below, do not eat the food and contact us for a replacement coupon. We may also make arrangements to retrieve the food for further evaluation," Kellogg said on its website.

The cereal affected by the voluntary recall can be identified with the following information:

-- 11.2-ounce package with a UPC Code 38000 59923 with a better if used before date of Dec. 2, 2013.

-- 22.4-ounce twin pack with a UPC Code 38000 78356 with a better if used before Nov. 30, 2013.

-- 37-ounce package with a UPC Code 38000 20940 and a better if used before date of Nov. 30 2013.

"If a cereal package is any size other than 11.2, 22.4 or 37 ounces, it is not impacted by this recall," the company said. "If your package has the letters KXA, KXB, or KXC following the better if used before date, it is not impacted by this recall."

Consumers who may have purchased the recalled product should contact Kellogg Consumer Affairs at: http://www.kelloggs.com/en_US/contact-us.html or by calling 1-800-962-1413 8 a.m.-6 p.m. EST Monday-Friday.

Kellogg would provide a replacement coupon to reporting consumers and might make arrangements to retrieve the product for further evaluation, the company said.
