A report by Hawkins International, specialists in travel and lifestyle trends, said hotel exercise routines are moving away from trekking to the hotel gym in favor of fitness opportunities in the hotel room. The hotel rooms at 45 Park Lane, for example, provide an in-room fitness TV channel that offers guests a selection of professionally led workouts designed and narrated by fitness expert Matt Roberts.
"Throughout London's 'marathon month' in April, Roberts will also offer a special 'Booster Slider' of spicy lobster and raw vegetables available at Bar 45, including raw carrot, green and red cabbage and shitake mushrooms wrapped in a sheet of rice paper," the report said. "In addition to Roberts' fitness program, the hotel features complimentary yoga mats in each room and bespoke [tailor-made] Brompton bicycles."
Meanwhile, the trend in hotels is to skip the salty snacks and tiny bottles of liquor in the room's minibar and replace them with local, healthy and philanthropic items.
"For example, the mini-bars at Fifteen Beacon in Boston showcase local favorites, including Boston Baked Beans and Cape Cod all-natural potato chips, while also providing essential healthy treats such as coconut water, protein bars, Emergen-C and pampering products like cucumber eye cream and homeopathic Sprayology, a holistic product for immune system maintenance and detox," the report said.
Meanwhile The Delamar Greenwich Harbor, in Greenwich, Conn., and Delamar Southport in Southport, Conn., offer guests honey-drop drinks in their minibars, which are locally made juices and teas sweetened only with wildflower honey -- a healthier alternative to refined sugar -- and proceeds help build new hives to increase the bee population.
